Homogenates of adult Schistosoma mansoni contained enzymes capable of transferring annose from GDPannose to a lipid acceptor which migrated as a single peak on a silica gel thin-layer plate. The mannosyl transferase activity was associated with membranous particles and was dependent on Mn2+. Mg2+ or Ca2+, in decreasing order of efficiency, can replace Mn2+. When UDPlucose was incubated with the homogenates relatively little label was transferred to the lipid acceptor.
