Market research per sector of horticulture by means of aggregated numbers of volumes and prices

, : Market research per sector of horticulture by means of aggregated numbers of volumes and prices. Acta Horticulturae (77): 213-222

Since 1973 market studies of the development of supply and demand of individual horticultural products have been made in the Netherlands. With a view to policy-making, however, there is an increasing need for such information on groups of related crops. The development of prices and the volume of various branches of horticulture should be reported by means of aggregated numbers - composite index numbers. The paper examines problems involved in constructing such index numbers.
