Studies are reported on fibre characters of the longissimus dorsi and semimembranosus muscles of pigs of the 3 breeds. In Hungarian White (HW), Swedish Large White and Swedish Landrace pigs resp., muscle fibre diameter averaged 68, 59 and 59 mu , and was 1, 4 and 5% greater in the semimembranosus than in the l.d. muscle.
