A stick cutting machine developed for the preparation of standard length planting material is described which can produce 5000 stem cuttings (about 15 cm in length) of cassava/machine h; a 3-row planting machine is also described. Comparative field studies were carried out comparing manual and mechanized operations in flat and ridged fields from Apr. 1965 to Apr. '66 using Brancha Butterstick.
