Metabolite carriers of chloroplasts

Metabolite carriers of chloroplasts

Encyclopedia of plant physiology New series Volume 3 Transport in plants III Intracellular interactions and transport processes: 137-143

Of the 2 membranes around the chloroplast, the outer one is freely permeable to small molecules, while the inner one is freely permeable to CO2 but impermeable to ions and so forms a barrier between chloroplast stroma and cytoplasm.
