Washed cultures of Candida albicans grew in the emulsion at room temp. Variations in inoculum size did not affect growth rate. Studies comparing the emulsion with total parenteral nutrition confirmed that the latter merely retarded fungal multiplication. When human serum was added to the lipid emulsion growth of C. albicans was unaltered.
