In 2-year sand culture studies with young G. asiatica plants growth was promoted by high N, and to a lesser entent, by high P and K, and was markedly retarded by deficiencies of these nutrients. Only plants receiving normal or high N, P and K flowered in the second year. Fruit size was not affected by different levels of N, P and K, but fruit weight was greatest, and fruit quality was best, with high N and high P.
