Monosome analysis of ear length in spring bread wheat

Monosome analysis of ear length in spring bread wheat

Genetika, USSR 12(10): 5-9

During 1971-72, 21 F1-F2 hybrids obtained by crossing monosomics of Chinese Spring with Milturum 553 were compared with disomic F1-F2 hybrids and the parental varieties. In 1971 eleven F2 monosomic hybrids differed from the disomics in ear length. Only one chromosome (5A) was associated with an increase in ear length; in six cases (3A, 3B, 4B, 5B, 3D and 4D) the ear was more than 10 mm shorter than in the disomic.
