The investigation looked for answers to the following questions: (1) stability of the non-agricultural main occupation; (2) farm changes which have been carried through or planned; (3) influence of the trade press; (4) self esteem of the part-time farmer; (5) relations between non-agricultural and farm decisions. The empirical analysis is based on a survey carried out in 1974 among 2448 part-time farmers in 25 parishes.
