Results of foliar decay studies in 17 central California orange groves are reported. Data were analysed using a first-order kinetic decay model for both parathion and paraoxon. Exponential decay rate coefficients for parathion were 0.72 plus or minus 40% per day (for 3 days) and 0.076 plus or minus 30% thereafter; paraoxon was 0.080 plus or minus 30%. Paraoxon yield from parathion decay ranged widely around 4% for the first 3 days then dropped to near 0.7% thereafter.
