Dried rumen contents with protein 21.8, fibre 30.3 and fat 6.1% were given in a diet for rats, at the expense of maize and dried blood, at 10 or 24% to supply the same N. Daily weight gain in 20 days was significantly less with 24% and intake was greater with either amount. Apparent digestibility of protein was 83.3, 78.2 and 53.2% and of DM was 83.6, 80.3 and 62.8% with no rumen content or with 10 or 24%.
