The volume of the sperm-rich, 2nd fraction of 15 ejaculates averaged 3.45 plus or minus 1.59 ml (1.8-6.0), its pH 6.47 plus or minus 0.35 (6.0-7.0), total ejaculation time 5-20 min, sperm concentration 70 X 106/ml (30-120) and sperm motility 65% (40-70). Split samples of the sperm-rich fraction were diluted 1:5 in citrate-yolk, milk-yolk and Tris-yolk extenders. The diluted samples were then cooled to 5 deg C in about 45 min and stored.
