Dieback caused by Ascochyta heteromorpha may appear at any stage in the nursery between rooting of cuttings and sale and may also attack mother-plants. The symptoms and biology of the pathogen are described. Cvs may be classified as very susceptible, susceptible and resistant. Although it is a xerophytic plant oleander can tolerate occasional heavy watering but the foliage should be kept dry. Irrigation by sprinkling and mist irrigation during rooting should therefore be avoided.
