In trials in 1973 growth of branches and leaves were compared in field- and pot-grown castor. Growth in length of main stem, branches and leaves was linear except during the late growth stage when it was logarithmic. Rate of growth in length and increase of plastochron index (PI) was greater in secondary than in other branches, but many of the differences were eliminated by regression on temperature.
