Leaf elongation rate and eventual length were greater at 25-30 deg than at 20-25 deg and number of days taken by newly emerged leaves to reach maturity was greatest at 15-20 deg. Leaf width was less affected than length by air temperature suggesting that the intercalary meristem was more sensitive to temperature than the marginal meristem.
