In an earlier study (see VD 43, abst. 2350) it had been observed that increased pancreatic amylase activity was associated with liver damage in horses with infectious anaemia. To investigate this further, eight of ten horses were experimentally infected with infectious anaemia virus. Amylase SGOT activity and serum total bilirubin were estimated in blood samples. The condition of the liver was checked before and during infection, in biopsy specimens.
