A homologue of a free secretory component (SC) was identified in chicken intestinal secretion by criteria based on its antigenic relationship with intestinal secretory IgA (SIgA), molecular size, sugar content, and electrophoretic mobility, as well as its elution characteristic from ion-exchange chromatography.
