Experimental section of the peroneal nerve in 8 cats and 2 dogs produced a paralysis characterized by an inability to flex and extend the digits, but not the permanent knuckling of the foot. There was, however, definite abnormal limb carriage with occasional folding under of the foot; locomotion was adversely affected. The condition considerably improved by the application of a muscle relocation technique, transferring either the long digital flexor or caudal tibial muscle.
