Persistence of five preplant herbicides after three annual repeated applications

The order of persistence of the herbicides applied to a sandy clay loam over a 3-year period, as detected by g.l.c., was trifluralin > fluchloralin > profluralin > nitralin > dinitramine. No nitralin or dinitramine residues were detectable the following seasons and no herbicide showed evidence of building up with repeated application.
