During 1973-76, 632 meat samples from cattle, 400 from fat bulls, 55 from calves, 180 from lambs and 650 milk samples, all from Bavaria, were examined for residues of chlorinated hydrocarbons. Residues of HCB were those found most frequently. 8.33% of cattle samples in 1974, 0.55% in cattle samples in 1975-6, 1.5% of bulls samples and 3.38% of milk samples contained HCB residues above the permissible limit.
