Phosphorus in the soils of Estonia

Phosphorus in the soils of Estonia

Pochvovedenie 6: 86-92

The total P content of parent materials and the major cultivated soils of Estonia and the various forms and distribution of phosphates are reported. The total P content was in the range 0.1 to 2.28% in the bedrock, 0.11-0.15% in moraines, and 0.09-0.16% in the plow layer. The amount of lactate-soluble phosphates was only 4-14% of the total P. The phosphates consisted mainly (85-92%) of aluminum and low-base potassium phosphates.
