Possibilities of developing apple varieties resistant to scab and mildew

Possibilities of developing apple varieties resistant to scab and mildew

Sweden, Avdelningen for Vaxtforadling av Frukt och Bar, Lantbrukshogskolan: Annual report of the Division of Fruit Breeding, Agricultural College of Sweden 1975: 14-19

Malus species with monogenic and polygenic resistance to all known races of Venturia inaequalis are listed. A promising progeny with resistance to V. inaequalis now in trial, designated BM41497, was derived from Lobo X (Jonathan X (Rome Beauty X M. floribunda var. sibirica)). In inoculation trials for resistance to Podosphaera leucotricha in six varieties during 1975-76, Oretorp and Golden Delicious had more plants showing the lowest degree of infection than the other varieties.
