Variations in yield due to bad weather conditions have a particularly damaging effect on the liquidity position of arable farmers who have concentrated on specialized crops. Time series analysis shows the extent of the variation in yield due to weather increases with increased yields and that it is of much greater significance for the individual farmer than it is if averaged over a wider region.
