Potential of agricultural exports to finance increased food imports in selected developing countries

Potential of agricultural exports to finance increased food imports in selected developing countries

Occasional Paper, International Food Policy Research Institute (2): 72

The aggregate food deficit projected by FAO and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) for developing countries will be very large if current trends continue. Economic growth and export expansion in a number of countries could enable them to increase their food grain imports without financial strain. For many of them, growth of the agricultural export sector will be a key factor.
