Prevention and control of helminthoses of fowls on large-scale production farms

In farms with Ascaris and Heterakis infections 0.2 g/kg of piperazine and 0.4 g/kg of phenothiazine are given to young birds in the food once weekly during the periods of greatest risk of infection. Adult birds are given 0.25 g piperazine and 0.5 g phenothiazine on two consecutive days each month. Recently 1.5 kg hygromycin per ton of mixed feed has been used. Cestode infections are treated with bithionol and filixan (male fern extract) given in the food after starvation for 10-12 hours.
