Problems of diagnosing swine brucellosis: a comparison of the agglutination and complement fixation tests

Swine were infected experimentally with Brucella suis or B. abortus. All infected animals showed high titres of agglutinating antibodies between 14 and 30 days after infection. By 60 days after infection, only about 13% of the animals possessed detectable titres of agglutinins, and by 90 days only about 3% had antibodies. The highest titres of agglutinins were observed 14 days after infection.
