In studies on factors affecting patulin production from acetate by replacement cultures of P. patulum, incorporation of the acetate into patulin was max. with 6-8-day-old cultures incubated at 28 deg C for 8 h in a replacement medium containing 0.1 M glucose, inorganic salts and undiluted sodium acetate.
