The process for producing Renital (see 2 preceding abstr.) is described. It involves cultivation of a Candida yeast in hydrolysed maize flour. It was found that the brand of flour used affected the enzyme yield. The effects of various types of treatment (concentration of the culture broth, precipitation with acetone, drying of the enzyme precipitate) on clotting and proteolytic activity of the enzyme are reported.
