All 37 tested strs. of A. versicolor from fodder, alfalfa and grain were able to produce sterigmatocystin although the toxin yield varied with str.The authors consider that as A. versicolor is a contaminant in 40% of dry fodders and 11% of isolates are highly toxinogenic, the probability of finding sterigmatocystin in the fodder might be about 5%.
