Purification and some properties of blueberry shoestring virus

BBSSV was purified from frozen infected blossoms of Jersey highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum). The virus was run through linear sucrose gradients and analyzed with an ISCO density gradient fractionator. It is isometric and measures c. 21 nm diam. The purified virus was inoculated to Jersey blueberry seedlings and caused typical disease symptoms.
