In E. coli strains isolated from piglets the frequency of mono-resistant strains decreased from 50% in 1964-1968 to 27% in 1974-1975, while dual or multiple resistance increased from 13 to 22%. Proportions of resistance determinants in 1974-75 were: tetracycline 23% (49% in 1964-68), sulfisomidine 38% (24%), streptomycin 9% (3%), ampicillin 6% (1%), chloramphenicol 6% (0.5%) and neomycin 4% (0%). All strains were sensitive to trimethoprim.
