Rapid colorimetric determination of oestrogenic hormones in pregnant mares

In 11 pregnant mares, oestrogen secretion in the urine was measured by the colorimetric method described by A. Kambegawa (Zeitschrift fur kombinierte Forschungsergebnisse, 16 : 935-945) at various intervals between the 80th and 300th day after mating. Oestrogen concentration was highest between the 140th and the 180th day of pregnancy, and decreased markedly after 240 days.
