Relationships between plant response and soil nitrogen levels determined by various methods in the presence and absence of applied nitrogen

Agriculture Hong Kong 1(5): 424-433

Soil N, total N uptake and cumulative yield of pearl millet/oats/millet/millet grown in succession in 24 soils without added N were determined. Correlations were found between total N uptake and crop yield, and between crop yield and soil N. Oats and millet were grown successively in a 2nd trial where 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 or 0.4 g N/pot (1.5 kg soil) as ammonium sulphate were applied.
