From day-old to 10 or 8 days, male White Mountain chickens were given a semipurified diet with isolated soya protein, then for 6 or 7 days diets based on maize starch with crystalline amino acids except glycine and serine, in the normal required amounts or 3 times those amounts.Chickens deprived of glycine and serine grew more slowly and less efficiently than those given either serine or both.
