Resistance to air pollution in Norway spruce. 2. Reflex resistance

Resistance to air pollution in Norway spruce. 2. Reflex resistance

European Journal of Forest Pathology 7(3): 129-152

The possible influence of stomatal responses on resistance to air pollution was studied in pollution-resistant (R) and non-resistant (N) grafted clones of Picea abies in 1974-75. In grafts not exposed to toxic gases, the water potential (WP) of R-clones was lower (by an av. of 25%) than that of N-clones, showing more sensitive regulation of transpiration and lower water consumption in the R-clones.
