Resistance to brome mosaic virus in barley

Resistance to brome mosaic virus in barley

Archiv fur Phytopathologie und Pflanzenschutz 13(4): 217-221

Extreme resistance to the virus was found in Certina (= Ceres) and its progenitors Coast and Cape X Coast, while its other progenitors Cape and Ackermanns Isaria and four other varieties were susceptible. The resistance was not effective against barley stripe mosaic virus or barley yellow dwarf virus. The resistance found in 3 genealogically related barley cvs. was specific and did not include resistance to barley stripe mosaic and barley yellow dwarf viruses.
