Pathological eating habits, deviations from the usual eating pattern in a given environment, were for example hypophagia, alcoholism, bulimia or sweet-eating. There were some pathogenic, not pathological, eating habits which though normal to healthy persons might be pathogenic for others, as in obesity of persons with normal energy intake or hypercholesterolaemia in persons with normal lipid intake.
