Male-fertility restorer RHA293 is considered to be the first large-seeded sunflower of a confectionary type to possess resistance to Plasmopara halstedii. Although it is susceptible to Puccinia helianthi, hybrids produced from it and rust-resistant female (male-sterile) lines are resistant to both pathogens. HA292 is a vigorous, high-yielding, rust-resistant, male-sterile line with improved seed shape, size and colour.
