The status of culicine mosquitoes with regard to insecticide-resistance is reviewed with reference to the situation at the time of the last full survey. In 1975, 38 species, mainly of Culex and Aedes, had developed some resistance, compared with 28 in 1968, and 17 of them showed resistance to organophosphorus compounds (14 to malathion, 12 to fenthion, 9 to temephos (Abate), 7 to chlorpyrifos (Dursban) and 6 to fenitrothion).
