Resistance to insects in stored grains

Resistance to insects in stored grains

Tropical Stored Products Information (31): 21-35

This is a review article outlining the present state of research into resistance in maize, sorghum, rice, wheat, barley and oats to attack by stored-products insects. Various physical and chemical characteristics of the grain have been identified as affecting its resistance to insects. It is suggested that inheritance studies should be carried out to establish whether resistance is genetic in nature or is imparted by the environmental conditions of the area.
