Resistance to loose smut and the genome composition of wheat

In species with the genome composition AuBD, under field conditions 15% of adult plants were highly resistant to race 2 of Ustilago nuda and 60.2% to race 38. In species with the genome composition AuB, the figures were 72.7% and 53.5% respectively. Tetraploid species with the genome composition AbG, Triticum araraticum, T. timopheevii and T. militinae, were immune to both races.
