Resistance to maize smut of numerous maize varieties in a collection from south-east Asia

Study of the collection of maizes showed that the waxy gene was not linked with susceptibility to Ustilago maydis. Varieties were classified according to their resistance into four groups; most varieties were in the highly resistant or resistant groups.
