Resistance to mealy endosperm in relation to protein synthesis in the grains and nitrate reductase activity in the leaves in Triticum durum

Resistance to mealy endosperm in relation to protein synthesis in the grains and nitrate reductase activity in the leaves in Triticum durum

Genetica Agraria 30(1): 1-18

In six Italian varieties which differ in their resistance to mealy endosperm, nitrate reductase activity and soluble-protein content in the flag leaf were determined from booting to yellowing of leaf tissue. Nitrogen content in the grain was determined during ripening. Varieties more resistant to mealy endosperm had greater nitrate reductase activity and a higher protein content in the leaves.
