Resistance to root-knot nematodes in Solanum tuberosum ssp. andigena

Of 1473 clones of S. tuberosum subsp. andigena tested for resistance to a mixture of Meloidogyne incognita acrita, M. incognita, M. arenaria, M. javanica and M. hapla, 15 showed resistance and were subsequently tested against each species separately. By crossing five of the clones showing resistance to two or more species of Meloidogyne, two families were produced with resistance to the five nematode species. One family showed 100% resistance to M. incognita acrita.
