Resistance to the lesser grain borer in 'Dawn' and 'Labelle' varieties of rice

Grains without the husk removed (rough rice), grains with the husk removed (brown rice) and well milled (with 70% of the bran removed) grains of the varieties Dawn, Labelle, Belle Patna and Bluebelle were artificially infested with Rhizopertha dominica. Fewer progenies developed on rough rice samples of Dawn and Labelle than on Belle Patna or Bluebelle. Fewer progenies were also found on well-milled samples of Dawn in comparison with the other varieties.
