Good studies on the influence of contraceptive hormones on lactation are difficult to make and reported studies have often been inadequately controlled. The oestrogenic constituents of the contraceptives affect lactation, and studies on the use of progestin alone have shown that lactation is not suppressed and may even be enchanced.
