Resource productivity in relation to farm mechanization

Resource productivity in relation to farm mechanization

Indian Journal of Agricultural Economics 31(4): 145-151

The impact of farm mechanization on cropping pattern, crop yields and resource productivity in Western Uttar Pradesh is examined, based on data collected from a sample of 150 farmers in the Meerut district of the state for the agricultural year 1971-72. To study the resource productivity, Cobb-Douglas functions were fitted to farm data separately for 18 of each of three types of farms, mechanized, partially mechanized and bullock farms, drawn from the group of medium and large farmers.
