Resources of tree foliage in thinnings in pine stands

Resources of tree foliage in thinnings in pine stands

Lesnoe Khozyaistvo (9): 46-47

Measurements were made in Belorussia on the amounts of foliage available in Pinus sylvestris stands as a result of thinnings. (The foliage is processed to make vitamin flour and other medicinal and fodder products.) Regression analysis was used to determine the relation between wt. of foliage per m3 of wood and stand age, and the best regressions were determined for three different stand types, viz. Pinetum oxalidosum, mossy Pinetum, and Pinetum callunosum.
