Respective effects of amino acid balance (deficiency of lysine) and protein content on performance of growing pigs

Respective effects of amino acid balance (deficiency of lysine) and protein content on performance of growing pigs

Journees de la Recherche Porcine en France 1976: 37-41

Pigs, 60 of average initial weight 24.3 kg and average initial age 93 days, were in 3 groups: one received a diet adequate in crude protein (17% up to 45 kg liveweight and then 14.5%), but deficient in lysine; the second had the same diet with a lysine supplement to bring it up to recommended amounts; the third group had a diet with only 13.5% protein up to 45 kg and 12% thereafter, but supplemented with essential amino acids to bring them up to the same amounts as in the second group.
