Respiration and catalase activity under the influence of ultrasound and some trace elements in wheat cv. Bezostaya 1



Studia Universitatis Babes Bolyai, Biologia 21: 26-30



Seeds of wheat Bezostaya 1 were treated with various combinations of ultrasound for 15 min and solutions of 0.01% CuSO4 and 0.1% MnSO4 for 12 h. Respiration of leaves at grain swelling was increased 9.7% by ultrasound alone, by 12.7% with both CuSO4 and MnSO4 or ultrasound + MnSO4 and by 8.5% with both ultrasound + CuSO4. Catalase activity in leaves was increased by most treatments with an increase in 14.5% with ultrasound alone and 30.0% with ultrasound + CuSO4.
